How to Sell

How do I sell an item?

  1. Click Sign Up in the upper right of this page
  2. Create a free CastBack account
  3. Click on Post a new listing in the upper right of this page
  4. Complete the Listing details for the item you'd like to sell
  5. Add detailed Photos of the actual item
    • Stock photos are not permitted
  6. Click the orange Publish listing button

IMPORTANT: First time sellers will receive a Payout preferences prompt to add and verify their preferred payout method. To ensure safe and reliable financial transactions, our marketplace leverages Stripe, a reputable online payment processing service that allows CastBack to accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, debit cards, as well as payments from mobile wallets and buy now, pay later services.


How do I adjust my listing to accommodate a reasonable offer?

Buyers can send you chat messages, including offers, from within your item's listing. To view messages, click the Inbox link at the top right of the website's header.

NOTE: Inboxes are split into two sections: As a customer and As a listing author. Messages related to items you are selling will appear in the As a listing author inbox - and messages related to items you are buying are in the As a customer inbox.

  1. Click on the message and review the offer
  2. Respond to the buyer to accept or decline
  3. If you accept the offer, adjust the price by clicking on the item's listing title (linked in orange underneath the item's photo)
  4. Once in the listing, click Edit listing in the grey box above the item's photo
  5. Click the Pricing & stock link in the left navigation*
  6. Adjust the price to the agreed upon amount
  7. Click the orange "Save changes" button
  8. Respond to the buyer in your chat message thread to inform them of the newly-posted price

When editing a listing, you can also adjust item Details, Delivery options & pricing, as well as add additional Photos

Payment & Fees

How can I ensure my transactions are secure?

To ensure your transactions and financial information are secure, we use Stripe - a reputable online payment processing service.


How quickly will payments reach my bank account?

Payments occur after you have shipped the item and clicked the blue I've shipped this order button within the listing.

There is a 7 day waiting period for the first payout. This delay is necessary for risk mitigation and cannot be waived under any circumstances. Future payment times are reduced to 3 business days after the initial waiting period.

Bank processing can also be delayed by weekends and holidays. Once the bank has finished processing the buyer's payment, the funds will be deposited into your financial account automatically.


What transaction fees will I incur as a seller?

CastBack fees are 6% TOTAL + applicable taxes & shipping charges (if applicable).

The Stripe transaction fees and charity donations are accounted for within the 6% structure. There are no hidden fees.

Shipping

Can I process shipping from within the marketplace?

At this time, sellers must work directly with their postal provider to send items.

We look forward to providing an in-app shipping feature in the near future.


How do I know when my item reaches the buyer?

Once an item is received, buyers must click the blue I've received my order button within the item listing. Sellers will be notified via a message in their Inbox.

Since shipping is currently handled outside of CastBack, we strongly encourage buyer's to request a tracking number and shipping insurance from their postal provider. CastBack is not responsible for any damages or mishaps related to shipping of items.

Order Issues

What protections do I have against fraudulent transactions?

Our marketplace is heavily moderated and uses only vendors who comply with current security and privacy standards.

If you suspect a buyer is attempting to spam, manipulate, or obfuscate completing transactions on CastBack, please contact our CastBack Support Team.


Can I handle disputes directly in the marketplace?

Yes, the item listing has a chat messenger where you can communicate directly with the buyer - and vice versa.

Buyers can formally submit a dispute within the item listing (after the item was shipped, but before it was marked as Received in the marketplace). Once an order is disputed, Stripe will hold the payment. After you the item back, the buyer's refund should be completed and back in their account within the next 3-5 business days.

If a resolution cannot be reached between you and the seller within 7 days of delivery, please contact our CastBack Support Team.


How do refunds work, and will I be charged for them?

Each item listing will include a Return policy section that must be honored. The reason for a return will determine who is responsible for the return shipping costs. - If the item you purchased arrived damaged or not as described, and the buyer reported the issue(s) to you, you are generally responsible for the return shipping costs. - On a preference-based return, typically the buyer would be responsible for purchasing the return shipping label, as well as coordinating return shipping logistics with the carrier.
